LMS Group is pleased to announce it has been awarded the Cyber Essentials Certificate, which verifies the company’s commitment to safeguarding all systems and data. The certification can only be secured following a stringent Government-backed assessment.
LMS Group was awarded the certification following an independent assessment and evaluation of all of its data management and cyber security systems, guaranteeing they meet the required standard and offering customers total peace of mind.
Cyber Essentials is a key element in the Government’s plan to further enhance the UK’s reputation as a secure country with which to do business. Companies with the Cyber Essentials certification have been proven to have a lower risk of cyber-attack, which offers customers more assurances about the safety and security of their systems and data.
LMS Group had to pass an assessment to be awarded Cyber Essentials, which checked whether the organisation had the appropriate infrastructure in place to protect all data management and IT systems from potential attack.
Chris Pegrum, Technical Team Leader at LMS Group, said: “I thought it was going to be a long and arduous task, with lots of hoops to jump through; it turns out it was quick and easy to implement because of the pre-existing security controls that we already had in place. We are of course very pleased.”
Are you thinking of getting accredited?
Cyber Essentials certification has now been made a mandatory requirement for companies looking to bid for a Government contract and it also helps businesses to ensure they are GDPR ready in time for the data regulation change coming into force in May. So it’s a great time to get accredited.
The process of obtaining Cyber Essentials certification is simple however it can help to have expert advice to guide you through it. There are some basic principles that need to be looked at before going for the accreditation. Having been through the process here at LMS Group, we can help your business to take the best approach.
There is also now Cyber Essentials PLUS, which involves a technical audit of the systems that are in-scope for Cyber Essentials. This includes a representative set of user devices, all internet gateways and all servers with services accessible to unauthenticated internet users. The assessor will test a suitable random sample of these systems.
